Kenya’s Daily Nation newspaper reported that Magonga was also the pilot for Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto.Authorities have ordered an investigation into the crash.
Kenya Police also issued a report on Monday morning indicating the helicopter crashed at 8pm on Sunday at Central Island National Park in Lake Turkana, killing all its five occupants on board.
The US Embassy identified two of the other three Americans as Andres Asher Jesiah Burke and Kyle John Fort.
Police said the team was in the company of another chopper that took off safely, but the second crashed moments after it took off. Its Central Island comprises three active volcanoes, according to the Kenya Wildlife Service.
“They were unable to land because that place is very hilly”.
Yesterday, KIDL helicopters manager Marco Brighetti said the two helicopters were airborne and headed for Lobolo camp, about 15km south west of the Turkana Central Island.
